Utahns Deserve Better than JD Vance

July 15, 2024, Salt Lake City - Today, Donald Trump announced his running mate: Senator JD Vance. Trump selected Vance because Vance supports the extreme MAGA agenda, and unlike Vice-President Mike Pence, Vance would have refused to certify the results of the 2020 election. Vance has said that:

  • There should be no exceptions in abortion bans for victims of rape and incest,

  • Victims of domestic abuse should remain in “violent” marriages,

  • Social Security and Medicare are “roadblocks” to financial stability.

While the Trump-Vance ticket calls for further restrictions on our basic freedoms, the Biden-Harris Administration is protecting social security and medicare, bringing manufacturing jobs back to America, investing in American energy, and restoring our country’s infrastructure. 

“As Utahns, we value women’s rights, federal services, and most importantly, our country’s democratic institutions,” UDP Chair Diane Lewis said. “JD Vance does not share those values. That makes him the wrong candidate for our state and our country.”
