Announcing the Democratic Nominee for CD2: Nathaniel Woodward

May 25, 2024, Salt Lake City - Today, members of the Utah Democratic Party Central Committee selected the Democratic nominee for U.S. Congressional District 2 in a virtual, ranked choice vote.

After five rounds of instant runoff voting, the results from the final round of voting are as follows:

  • Benjamin Coffey - ELIMINATED

  • Charles Free - ELIMINATED

  • Randy Hopkins - ELIMINATED

  • Nathaniel Woodward - 22

  • Warren Wright - ELIMINATED

  • Garret Rushforth - 21

  • Darrell Curtis - ELIMINATED

As Nathaniel Woodward received over 50% of the vote in the final round, he is the Democratic nominee for Congressional District 2. 

“Congratulations to Nathaniel Woodward on his nomination,” UDP Chair Diane Lewis said. “Unlike the far-right extremists seeking the Republican nomination in CD2, we are confident that Nathaniel Woodward stands for Utah families.”
