UDP Operations Director

Position Overview

The Utah Democratic Party is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and technically-skilled Operations Director to manage the logistics and back end infrastructure of the Party’s coordinated campaign for the 2026 election cycle.

This position will oversee day-to-day logistics, compliance support, budgeting coordination, material and resource allocation, and infrastructure to ensure the success of statewide, legislative, and down-ballot Democratic candidates.

The Operations Director will work closely with the Organizing Director and senior campaign leadership to ensure the coordinated campaign runs efficiently and on schedule with strong data integrity during a fast-paced election cycle.

What You Will Do:

Campaign Operations & Logistics

  • Oversee operational and technical aspects of the coordinated campaign, including office management, mail house, supplies, technology platforms, and

    vendor relationships

  • Manage campaign calendars, timelines, and internal workflows to ensure smooth execution across departments

  • Coordinate materials, literature, field supplies, and logistics support for campaign staff, interns, and volunteers

  • Oversee office setup, maintenance, and closure across multiple locations as needed

  • Work with campaign leadership and finance staff to track budgets, expenditures, and invoicing

Organizing Operations & Data Support

  • Support the Political Director with VAN Administrator and provide VAN admin support, including user access, permissions, turf setup, and data hygiene

  • Set up and manage phone banks, text banks, canvassing programs, and virtual organizing tools

  • Support field teams with list building, walk packets, phone and text universes, and voter targeting logistics

  • Track and report organizing metrics including doors knocked, calls made, texts sent, event attendance, volunteer shifts, and voter contact rates

  • Monitor organizing effectiveness and flag data trends or operational issues for campaign leadership

  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of organizing activity to internal teams and national partners as required

Administrative & Compliance Support

  • Support campaign compliance efforts in coordination with in-house legal counsel and compliance staff

  • Ensure adherence to state and federal campaign finance regulations

  • Oversee inventory, distribution, and tracking of campaign materials and equipment

Qualifications

  • At least 2–4 campaign cycles with a strong preference for operations, logistics, and project management experience

  • Demonstrated experience with NGP VAN, including admin-level access, phone banks, text programs, and canvassing workflows

  • Experience tracking and reporting field and organizing metrics

  • Familiarity with campaign finance compliance and budgeting processes preferred

  • Experience working with diverse coalitions and a commitment to Democratic values

  • Willingness to work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends, especially as Election Day approaches

  • Ability to travel within Utah as needed

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working on a coordinated campaign or with state party operations

  • Familiarity with Utah’s political landscape

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure

  • Proficiency with campaign tools including NGP VAN, Mobilize, Scale to Win, Google Workspace, and budgeting or reporting software

Compensation

  • Salary is commensurate with experience with a range of $5,000-$5,500/mo.

  • Paid vacation plus sick leave, paid observed holidays
