She’s really crafty.  Given a ball of string, some nail polish, and a glue gun, we’re pretty sure she could take over the world.

Yesterday, we asked Delegate Glenn Wright, Chair of the Summit County Democratic Party, and a Vietnam Veteran, to share his thoughts:

Today was Labor Day, so it seems appropriate that I spent the afternoon (along with many of   my fellow Utah Democratic Delegates) helping to build a house that is being donated to a homeless veteran.

I also had a chance to attend the National Veterans Caucus , and the day flooded me with memories of Vietnam, friends on the memorial wall, and those who brought the war home with them.

A good friend of mine came down with full blown PTSD about 25 years after the Tet offensive in which he fought. The disorder can and does ruin lives of those who fight in the service of their country, and I fear for our Iraq/Afghanistan vets, who have served multiple tours over a decade or more.

But knowing that they have President Obama in their corner gives me hope for the future. This will be a choice election. We can re-elect a president that will provide care and jobs for vets or we can elect a man that will cut care for vets and let military service men and women struggle to survive in the job market on their own.

We can choose to support a president who has shown his desire and ability to build alliances, sharing the international load and reserving our military as a last choice, or we can return to the NeoCon philosophy of “go it alone” and use our troops as cannon fodder.

Speaking as a veteran, to me the choice is clear. President Obama has my back, and I have his.”

September 5, 2012 Dear Democrats Holy smokes, gosh golly, we’re national!  Yesterday something happened.  A moment that will change history and redefine what it means to be a Mormon AND a Democrat.  We’re national and we did it in a big way – CNN, New York Times, National Journal, Daily Beast, Time, NBC, New York Magazine, The LA Times , and a good sprinking of international press!Senator Harry Reid joined us for the first national meeting of the LDS Democrats Caucus.  We had hundreds of Democrats from Utah, North Carolina, and people who drove for hours from all over the East Coast to be there with us.  The room was packed!We’ll have more coverage after the convention wraps, but the game changed in Charlotte yesterday afternoon, for Utah Democrats and for the Democratic Party nationally.  Here’s just a small portion of the immense, and positive, coverage that the LDS Dems received yesterday:Mormon Democrats gather for first-ever national meeting in Charlotte during DNC (NBC)Mormons for Obama!
